Importing Events

Introduction

If you have many events you need to create, it might be easier to import a spreadsheet that contains the event details instead of creating each one manually.  The import will save you time but note that there will be certain elements that you'll need to complete on your own after the import.  This help topic first explains how the import works and then outlines the limitations or action items you'll need to take after the import has been completed.

Time Savings

If you have 3 or fewer events to create, the import will probably take as much time as simply created those events from scratch.  This import is designed as a time saver for a high volume of events.

Spreadsheet Template

If you ever need a copy of the template, click on and save the.xls file: Boomer event import template as of 012025.xlsx.

Here is a sample version with a single event defined:  event import sample as of 012025.xlsx

Security

The ability to import an event spreadsheet is controllable by security.  By default, only those users with a Store Administrator role will see the command at the top of the Events grid.  You can edit other security roles as desired to enable the feature for that group.

Import a List

To import an event list:

  1. Go to the Events grid.
  2. Click "Import Events" at the top of the grid (if you do not see the option, you do not have the security rights to import events).
  3. Click "Choose File" and select the Excel file to be imported.
  4. Click "Import".
  5. Boomer will review the file to make sure there are no format issues.  If there are none, you will be prompted that the import was successful.  If there are issues, you will be notified via a message.

Spreadsheet Errors

If after choosing the file and clicking "Import", you receive an error regarding the format of the spreadsheet, the following are the likely causes:

  1. The spreadsheet does not have the right number of columns. See to make sure the columns in the spreadsheet are the same as outlined in Boomer help.
  2. The spreadsheet has extra data in columns beyond the expected columns or data in rows beyond the event rows, or extra tabs with information on them.
  3. The data is not in the right format as outlined in Boomer help.

Below is an example of an error due to the fact that there is no manager with the email address provided in the spreadsheet:
