Boomer comes with a standard set of email templates. If you have an interest in creating your own custom templates, it is possible but requires some HTML knowledge in order to safely make a copy of and modify one of the standard templates. Telling Stone can provide you with a template called "Blank Template" that you can copy and edit in order to create your own message.
Copying and Customizing the Template
The following instructions provide guidance on how to copy the template. Telling Stone support is limited to how to copy the template itself; we do not provide education or guidance on any HTML language and cannot troubleshoot the HTML contents in the template itself.
-
Click on the Store Configuration tab and choose "Email Templates" in the dark blue sub menu.
If you do not see the Store Configuration tab, you may not have adequate security rights.
- In the grid of templates, look for the template named "*Blank Template". Click to open it in Detail.
- Click the "Copy" button located at the bottom of the template:
- In the Template Name field, name the template something you will recognize in a list of your email templates.
- In the Subject line, replace the words "Blank Template" with the Subject line you want for your email. Note that the special field that starts with the $ will pull in the event name. Delete it if you don't want that.
- Click on the Content tab at the top. Edit your desired message ONLY in the yellow area shown below: Note that the blank email template already has code that displays your company's banner, the event logo, a salutation that references the exhibitor by first name as well as a closing footer:
The only content to edit is the highlighted yellow area in the template as described above. If you want multiple paragraphs, end each paragraph with <BR><BR> which is the HTML code for a line break. For example:
The quick brown foxed jumped over the lazy dog.<br><br>And then he tripped over a rock.
will translate in the email template to:
The quick brown foxed jumped over the lazy dog.
And then he tripped over a rock.
Controlling the Availability of the Email Template
To control whether the template appears in as an available template, click the Print and/or Email check boxes on the Detail tab of the email template:
"Make Available to Print" determines whether it is a template listed from the "Print" button in the Order Summary. "Make Available or Email" determines whether the template is listed in the "Email" button from the Order Summary as well as in an event's email campaign area.
Test Your Template
We highly encourage you to test your template prior to using it. To do this, within the template, click "Send Test":
A dialog appears with your own email address populated in the address field. Since the template type is 'contact' based enter any random customer number in the ID field in order to have the template pull in a logo and manager field. You can find the customer number by opening up any contact. The number is just above their first name. It does not have to be a contact from any specific event, but you must put in a number (note: if the template type is 'order' based, the ID required will be any random order number):
Click "Send".
