Image Guidelines

Overview

Photograph quality is one of the most important ways a shopper will judge whether they like and want to buy your products; therefore, the importance of high quality images cannot be stressed enough. And it's an investment worth making - sales have been known to more than double through improved imagery.  As you gather images, It is important to follow the image guidelines outlined below for maximum impact and performance.  If you upload an image too large, the page will low too slowly for your customer.  Uploading an image too small will distort the image, making it fuzzy.

Contact your Supplier

The company you purchase or rent your furnishings from may already have photography they would be willing to provide to you at no cost.

Buy Stock Photography

If you don’t have the time or budget to use your own product images, consider buying stock photography (which is fairly inexpensive) to add images to products that would benefit from a picture.  (Note:  If you do use stock photography in places, you may want to add to your terms and conditions document that the “images are representative only” and the actual product may vary so as not to set expectations you cannot meet).

Image Specifications

Whether you plan to use your own photography or buy stock photography, the following specifications should be followed when providing the images to Telling Stone:

  • Minimize the white space around the image (for best results, the product should fill at least 80% of the image)
  • Minimum size and quality of an image for Boomer is 300 pixels/72 PPi.
  • Maximum size should be 800 pixels in any direction.  Any larger than that and you are requiring your storefront exhibitor to download larger files than necessary and slowing your storefront down.
  • Images should be .jpg or .gif format (.bmp files are inherently larger and will not load as quickly).
  • The image will usually appear in a square frame, so try to keep the width and height similar.

Transferring the Images to Telling Stone

Unless you have your own efficient file transfer application, we request you use Microsoft OneDrive. It is very safe and easy way to share your files with Telling Stone. When you are ready to transfer your images, please contact us and we will send you an invitation to a shared folder.

If you plan to use your own file transfer application, make sure we can download multiple files at once. Typically the more raw FTP tools require that the user right click and download each file individually, which we are hoping to avoid.
