Message Queues

The main tab called Message Queues contains a grid of all email and text messages queued to be sent or that have been sent.

Message Queues

Email Queue

Introduction

Assuming your e-mail triggers are set up to the default triggers, Boomer sends outgoing e-mails for many reasons, including:

  • New logins, either on the Admin side or Customer side.
  • Password resets, either on the Admin side or Customer side.
  • E-mail confirmations.
  • E-mail campaigns.

In addition, you may have worked with Telling Stone to set up additional e-mail triggers.  Regardless of the triggers you have set up, the Email Queue provides a list of all outgoing e-mails and their status:

Source Data

The Source Data column contains details related to the email message row:

Portal Indicates whether the trigger was initiated from the customer/storefront portal or the admin portal.
Related ID For order level triggers, the related ID is an order #; for contact level triggers, it is the Contact ID record found at the top of the contact's detail form.
Data When the trigger contains a password reset link, the data field contains a "Copy Link" option which allows you to copy the temporary password link and send it to the user manually.  This might be useful if your customer is not receiving the automated trigger.

Send Tries

Boomer will attempt to send an email out up to 6 times.  The number of attempts is listed in the Send Tries column.  After 6 tries, the send attempts will stop.

Last Error

If the email fails to send, a red box appears in the "Last Error" column.  Click on the red box to see the error message.  Below is one example, but you might have a different email error message depending on the cause of the failure.

Bounce

Remember Boomer is only responsible for sending messages out of the system. Your outbound email server or email relay service is responsible for delivering it an inbox. If it is sending successfully out of Boomer with no known errors, then the issue is occurring somewhere downstream and outside of Boomer.

Send

If for some reason you want to force the email to be resent, slick on the Send option in the Send column to force Boomer to send the email again.

SMS Queue

The SMS Queue (or Short Message Service) documents the status of all outgoing text messages being sent from Boomer.  Text messaging could be used to alert a customer of important status changes in orders or shipments.

If you’d like to take advantage of this service, you’ll need to sign up for a third party text message provider called Twilio. The grid looks similar to the Email Queue but you’ll still need to determine the customer’s ID number to search in the Related ID field at the top.  As with email queues, if the text message outright fails to send then you’ll see a red box in the Last Error column. And you can click on the red box to see the error message.
